Wow, as far as sponsorship goes, this one is big news! DYE has signed New England Hurricanes for a multtiple year-contract, how do you like them apples? Quite an aggressive move in the sponsorship front.. Nice to see what the Hurricanes’ custom NT will look like. Strategically the signing is a well thought-out move, as the Hurricanes have been catching a lot of attention with their extremely well produced “Birth of a Storm” documentary.
Good luck to the endeavour!

Its always sad to see fields or stores closing down especially on such a small market like what we have here in Finland. Cool Games (Diehard) and people behind it where one of the driving factors to push tournament paintball forward in Finland. People with Cool Games worked for the passion for paintball but unfortunately working at your free time just for the love of the game doesn’t bring the bread to the table. Helsinki Cyclone would like to thank for the years we had together and all the support during that time. If you are looking for some cheap paintball items at closeout prices now is your chance as everything goes from the store this weekend. Please read below details in Finnish. With Smart Parts going under and sponsor money for pro teams being tighter than ever we have seen a lot of players move during the last weeks in US. With first PSP in March I’m sure we will still see some big names move on new teams. Its going to be quite interesting to see what team managed to pick the right players for them and if the teams with alot of new players have enough time to gel together before the first event. We have now Fedorov going to Russian Legion. Tim Montressor, Stephen Dabilis, Sam Monville and Greg Siewers joining Aftershock witch makes pretty much an completely new lineup for them. Chris Wilson strengthens XSV. Billy Bernacchia, Pat Roberts, Drew Templeton all with Vicious. Chad George with the boys in blue, San Diego Dynasty. Chris De Signor to Arsenal and Dave Bains plays NPPL with Edmonton Impact. For Ironmen we have Nicky Cuba and John Richardson leaving the team so safe to assume some new names joining Ironmen.

Darryl Trent from DLX technologies has posted a press release on propaintball.com with information on the season 2010 and DLX Technology / Luxe markers. The short press release has two significant implications. First, it is the first (?) to officially admit that Smart Parts is restructuring with a financial institution in play. The second key point is that the DLX seems to be the cash-cow for SP and possibly be the last to be cut if necessary – or that is at least the tone of the release.

Again, we feed off the great stuff View from the Deadbox diggs up – you guys should all subscribe to that.
There has been a few notions that Wal-Mart would not be distributing JT products anymore, and as JT has received over half of its sales through Wal-Mart, the company suffers a hard blow. Hard enough that it might even be forced to close down. For us older guys, this is really sad bit of gossip as JT and Scott were the first really big equipment manufacturers in the sport and were big contributors in the initial growth of paintball.

Looks like .50 caliber along with other small caliber paintballs 43, 55 and 62 are all being submitted to ASTM committee for approval. Without ASTM approval none of these products could be sold in US without running to insurance issues. Continue reading ‘.50 caliber and other small calibers in ASTM review.’ »
